Series 63

 

The Uniform Securities Agent State Law Examination, or Series 63, is required by most states* of those who solicit orders for any type of security in that state. The Series 63 license is required in most states in addition to a respective limited or general securities representative license.

Currently, the only states/territories that do NOT require a Series 63 license to be registered as an agent are Colorado (CO), Florida (FL), Louisiana (LA), Maryland (MD), Maine (ME), New Jersey (NJ), Ohio (OH), Vermont (VT), District of Columbia (DC) and Puerto Rico (PR).

The Series 63 is a 1 1/4 hour, 50 multiple-choice question exam based entirely upon the Uniform Securities Act of 1956 as amended, and is categorized as follows:

To pass the Series 63, a 70% is required (42 out of 60 questions must be answered correctly).
